Formación de dentina secundaria como indicador etario: análisis de medidas lineales y superficiales en dentición permanente de restos óseos humanos de una colección documentada contemporánea

Resumen

La formación de dentina secundaria es un proceso que ocurre de manera gradual y constante una vez culminado el desarrollo del diente, ocasionando la disminución de la cavidad pulpar con el paso del tiempo. Con la aparición de las imágenes radiográficas, se ha utilizado este soporte para relevar el incremento de la dentina secundaria y su relación con la edad individual. Las principales metodologías focalizan en el relevamiento de medidas lineales. Propuestas recientes han instado a utilizar medidas de superficie de pulpa y diente. Por este motivo, el presente trabajo focaliza en comparar y analizar el correlato con la edad medidas lineales y superficiales de diente y pulpa. Fueron seleccionados 51 caninos superiores y 73 caninos inferiores pertenecientes a 84 individuos adultos provenientes de la colección Lambre (FCM-UNLP). Se relevaron y calcularon los cocientes correspondientes a partir del conjunto de medidas lineales y superficiales de pulpa y diente. Considerando el factor desgaste, se propuso calcular un nuevo cociente obtenido de medidas superficiales de cavidad pulpar y dentina radicular (SP/SR). Los resultados obtenidos evidenciaron que las medidas superficiales se correlacionan mejor con la edad, y de estas el cociente SP/SR fue el que mejor correlato etario manifestó.
